LIP BALMS
Makes 20 tubes
- 4 parts oil => 4 ounces [1/2 cup] (almond, apricot kernal, grapeseed, or any other oil)
- 1 part beeswax => 1 ounce beeswax
Options: Honey; Alkanet (for a red color); Essential Oils (for scent & flavor); Vitamin E oil (healing purposes & a preservative)
- Melt beeswax & Heat oil - the best way to do this is the double boiler method. An easy way to help simplify clean-up is to take a soda can & cut off the top; pinch one of the sides to make a pouring spout. Put beeswax & oil in can & place in pot of boiling water. Be watchful, so can does not tip over.
- Test - Take a teaspoon dip it into the blend, now put it carefully into the freezer for a minute. Take it out & feel for the consistency --if it is too soft then you'll need to add more beeswax, conversely if too hard you'll need to add more oil. Just add a little bit at a time.
- Pour into container. Fill to top & add essential oil & Vitamin E now; you might want to stir lightly with a toothpick. [If using tubes, you need to add options before pouring!]
- Make a great label & enjoy!

MASSAGE OIL
The most common method of applying essential oils is by using a base oil as the carrier. Fixed oil's molecules are too large to penetrate the skin. Instead, they smoothly slide over your skin, holding in moisture & protecting dry skin.
Oil Choices:
- Apricot Kernal : Moderate texture; good middle-ground choice
- Grapeseed : light texture; mild astringent
- Jojoba : very moisturizing, not an oil
- Olive : excellent for skin; strong scent; rich in chlorophyll
- Sweet Almond : choice of massage therapists; thick texture; provides good gliding action
To make a massage oil:
- Select carrier oil of choice (many massage therapist prefer sweet almond oil for it's texture)
- Add your essential oil. Rule of thumb says no more than 10 drops per 1 ounce of carrier oil. Start with 2 - 3 drops. Cover & shake to check scent. Add more essential oil, if necessary. Remember that when applied to your body, the heat will intensify the scent.

ROSEMARY'S LOTION
WATERS:
2/3 cup distilled water
1/3 cup aloe vera gel
1 - 2 drops essential oil of choice
Vitamins A & E as desired
OILS:
3/4 oil of your choice
1/3 cup coconut oil or cocoa butter
1/4 teaspoon lanolin (optional)
1/2 - 1 oz grated beeswax
- Combine WATERS in a glass-measuring cup. Set aside.
- In a double boiler over low heat, combine OILS. Heat just enough to melt.
- Pour oils into blender & let cool to room temperature. The mixture should become semi-solid & cream colored.
- When cooled, turn blender on the highest speed. In a slow, thin drizzle, pour water mixture into the center vortex.
- When most of the water mixture has been added to the oils, listen to the blender & watch the cream. When the blender coughs or chokes turn off the blender.
- The cream will thicken as it sets.
- Pour into cream or lotion jars.
- Troubleshooting: If the water & oils separate it could be due to: * Improper temperature - both waters & oils should be at room temperature. * The blender speed was set too low - must be set at high speed for the cream to properly emulsify; if this happens - let them fully separate & then begin process over again.

SPRITZERS
Ingredients/Supplies:
2 oz. distilled water
10 drops vodka or other alcohol
2 - 10 drops essential oil (s)
bottle - either plastic or glass
an atomizer (spritzer) top
- Start with a clean bottle. Put alcohol in the bottle. We use the alcohol to help keep the essential oil blended in the water.
- Add your chosen essential oil(s). Remember to start with a small amount, you can make the scent stronger but not weaker. Also note that the smell should be more subtle in the bottle than it will smell on you.
- Add 3/4 of the water, put on cover & shake bottle. Either "spritz" into the air or unscrew top & smell. If you like it, add the rest of the water & check again; or if you do not think it is strong enough add another drop & recheck. It is imperative to just add a drop at a time because the essential oils are very concentrated & a little can change the smell! Keep track of the number of drops you are using, so you can duplicate this formula in the future.
- Once you have found the perfect blend, make a label & enjoy! P.S. you can use your spritzer as s room spray or use it directly on your body. If you spray your face, please close your eyes & shut your mouth (take off your glasses!).
